Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is The Enormous Elephant Run?

The Enormous Elephant Run is your chance to join our herd of inspiring people who want to make a difference for Africa's elephants. We have two types of events to choose from: The Enormous Elephant Run which is a costumed event and The Enormous Elephant Run: Freestyle, where its up to you what you wear come race day. Choose your location, distance and run, jog or walk to raise vital funds for Africa's iconic elephants.

If I don't raise the suggested fundraising amount, can I still take part?

Of course! Each Run location has its own suggested fundraising target, and we ask everyone to try and raise this. We'll give you lots of help, and will be sending you a fundraising guide full of ideas but if you don't raise the target by race day, you can still take part.

Why do should I fundraise if I've already paid a registration fee?

We appreciate all of the contributions runners make to The Enormous Elephant Run. Your suggested fundraising target is optional but hugely encouraged as something to aim towards and will mean that we can make an even bigger difference to the elephants in our care and those living wild. Consider enlisting your friends or family to support you in your effort to help elephants!

I don't see a Run near me, do you have Runs elsewhere?

Unfortunately no. We are a small team and want to make sure each Run gives participants the best running experience possible and that means we have to be selective about when and where we hold each event. But you can let us know you'd like a Run in your home city by emailing us through our contact form here; we hope to add more locations and we can let you know if we announce a Run near you.

Do I have to wear an elephant costume to take part?

It depends on what event you choose to join. The Enormous Elephant Run is a costumed event, meaning all runners wear an elephant costume. Its your chance to unleash your inner elephant and your costume is included in the price of your registration fee. The Enormous Elephant Run: Freestyle is a plain-clothed event meaning you can wear what you want come race day: tutus, war paint or your event shirt and best running gear.

How old do you have to be to take part?

Please check on the individual location pages here for any age registrictions.

Are the Runs timed?

It depends on the Run location. But please be aware our events are all about 'taking part' for elephants, as opposed to speed and we welcome walkers to our events as well as joggers and runners. Want to skip too - you're more than welcome in our herd!

What should I bring to the Run with me?

  • Dress up: Think comfortable clothes and trainers.
  • Travel light.
  • Cheer on: Your friends and family can download a cheering board to personalise on our website at: www.runforelephants.com
  • Drink up: Bring a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.
